some things having to do with the world do get a sequel<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-4430 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/falseducks.com\/theblahg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/WIN_20210518_14_06_46_Pro-1.jpg\" alt=\"Scott - May 18, 2021\" width=\"257\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"http:\/\/falseducks.com\/theblahg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/WIN_20210518_14_06_46_Pro-1.jpg 599w, http:\/\/falseducks.com\/theblahg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/WIN_20210518_14_06_46_Pro-1-300x215.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 257px) 100vw, 257px\" \/>.\u00a0 The day before Christmas in 2012 I wrote a blahg with the title <a href=\"http:\/\/falseducks.com\/theblahg\/?p=28\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD?<\/a> and thought I would not need to revisit the theme.\u00a0 Little did I know that almost 9 years later I would be thinking about those words again&#8230;or rather uttering them out loud.\u00a0 \u00a0I thought it was time to ask the question again and to see if my solutions have held up or if I have better ones to offer.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0 \u00a0My blahg last time had to do with the Sandy Hook massacre and other world issues as well as the fact that someone had hacked my website and inserted malicious code.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what I offered up as solutions at that time:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><strong>So what can we do to make this world a better place?\u00a0 Speak out!\u00a0 Everyone has an opinion and a voice and it\u2019s your duty to speak out against injustice and stupidity.\u00a0 Many voices raised in song have done better to heal than those who sit at the back of the room and just mouth the lyrics&#8230;The last time I checked, we are all free to be.\u00a0 Free to be whatever we wanted, believe what we wanted, worship how we wanted, love how we wanted.\u00a0 You get the message&#8230;Look at your loved ones, your relatives, your friends, and tell me you wouldn\u2019t want more time with them if it meant giving up your stubborn opinions.\u00a0 I think we all know the answer to that.\u00a0 Let\u2019s move on&#8230;<\/strong><\/em><em><strong>There are some good things in this world.\u00a0 There is love and family and laughter and we need to embrace it during these troubling times.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want to be preachy but sometimes we forget to think of all we are blessed with.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">I could go on listing all of <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/lowres.cartoonstock.com\/politics-obama-america-americans-problems-global_issues-epln42_low.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/lowres.cartoonstock.com\/politics-obama-america-americans-problems-global_issues-epln42_low.jpg\" alt=\"What's wrong with the world cartoon\" width=\"257\" height=\"274\" \/><\/a>the problems in the world and war and death and Covid 19 but I think everyone is tired of hearing about it.\u00a0 I&#8217;d rather focus on the solutions.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0 \u00a0News flash.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t have any solutions.\u00a0 I thought love, laughter, and happiness were the cure-alls but many people don&#8217;t have those in their lives.\u00a0 Sometimes when I&#8217;m looking for an answer, I turn to music.\u00a0 You know a lot of my blahgs are full of music and I thought I would look at some songs that give inspiration or hope or maybe offer up some suggestions that might lead to solutions.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0 \u00a0I really like the artist, Sara Groves.\u00a0 I discovered her from the soundtrack to the movie &#8220;The Ultimate Gift.&#8221;\u00a0 If you want to see a really inspirational movie, check it out.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not going to use her song &#8220;Something Changed&#8221;, from that movie, in this scenario because it&#8217;s more a religious experience and one person&#8217;s religion should be that one person&#8217;s religion.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been thinking more lately about her song &#8220;Roll To The Middle.&#8221;\u00a0 Essentially the song is about a couple who just had a huge fight and the singer is wondering how they will get beyond the hurt.\u00a0 Part of the lyrics go &#8220;All the complicated wars, they end pretty simple.\u00a0 Here when the lights go down, we roll to the middle.&#8221;\u00a0 Rolling to the middle is where we find compromise and begin to heal.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s the video to that song:\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/u2QmkZl7874\" width=\"450\" height=\"350\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0 \u00a0I&#8217;m going to be a little sappy for a moment.\u00a0 &#8220;What A Wonderful World&#8221; by Louis Armstrong is uplifting as well.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not about &#8220;What&#8217;s Wrong With The World?&#8221; but more about What&#8217;s Right.\u00a0 I won&#8217;t go on about it but will instead offer up a live performance of Louis singing the song.\u00a0 Not only is the song infectious but Louis&#8217; smile could melt a hardened heart down to butter.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VqhCQZaH4Vs\" width=\"450\" height=\"350\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0 \u00a0I&#8217;m going to sneak The Weepies in here.\u00a0 Readers of my blahgs, if there are any, know that I&#8217;m a huge fan of Steven Tannen and Deb Talan, husband and wife team, better known as The Weepies.\u00a0 The following video is for the song &#8220;The World Spins Madly On,&#8221; which is true but it fits the theme.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/L4sa2HoXpsE\" width=\"450\" height=\"350\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">The song that cheers me the most is their song, &#8220;I Was Made For Sunny Days.&#8221;\u00a0 I used to hear this song piped into a local thrift store and found myself singing along.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve seen The Weepies twice in concert but I can&#8217;t remember if they sang this song.\u00a0 At the core is the theme that sunny days are better than grey days.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-0z71SWcG2o\" width=\"450\" height=\"350\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0 \u00a0I could go on filling this blahg with songs that mean well and mean a lot to me but we might disagree on some of these.\u00a0 The last song is one I think we can all agree on.\u00a0 It&#8217;s just fun and it was part of our culture and our history.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t like the Monkees then look away but it doesn&#8217;t matter because they&#8217;re too busy singing to put anybody down.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AKs43dHBSWA\" width=\"450\" height=\"350\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0 \u00a0Okay, okay, just one more.\u00a0 I know you didn&#8217;t ask for it but if I&#8217;m going to put forward one more World song then it has to be the one that&#8217;s so basic in message that we shouldn&#8217;t forget.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a Coca Cola commercial and I&#8217;m not a fan of the drink but the song &#8220;I&#8217;d Like To Teach The World To Sing&#8221; still packs a punch.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ib-Qiyklq-Q\" width=\"450\" height=\"350\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0 The world is full of hate and fear and confusion and depression and loathing and terrorism and nepotism and nimbyism (look it up) and shouting and crying and living and dying.\u00a0 But those are all words.\u00a0 Chop up the words and they&#8217;re just letters and those letters spell better things like loving and hope and resilience and caring and trust and future.\u00a0 Try it for yourself.\u00a0 Take all the bad words and twist them around to make good ones.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0 \u00a0I was looking for something to end this blahg with that wasn&#8217;t a song.\u00a0 I looked back through my own writing, even further back than the original blahg <a href=\"http:\/\/falseducks.com\/theblahg\/?p=28\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD?<\/a>, and I found a poem that I wrote on March 25th, 1986.\u00a0 Surprisingly, it&#8217;s about taking apart words to find an all purpose cure.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know what that cure is or what you&#8217;ll use it for but if you put in the effort to make positive change then the result is its own reward.\u00a0 Try not to read too much into the poem.\u00a0 I was 23 at the time and the following year I would be married and on another March 25th, being 1994, my son would be born.\u00a0 Take apart the poem if you like and reuse the words.\u00a0 Kinder words spread thicker than all the negative comments stacked together.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">AN ALL PURPOSE CURE<\/h4>\n<h4>Don&#8217;t think I<br \/>\ndon&#8217;t care about<br \/>\nall the world&#8217;s illnesses<br \/>\nbecause I do and<br \/>\nI want to do something about them.<\/h4>\n<h4>It&#8217;s not all physical<br \/>\nI know<br \/>\nbut then all the answers<br \/>\naren&#8217;t either.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s not all broken bodies<br \/>\nand worn out organs<br \/>\nand dead tissues<br \/>\nbut then all the cures<br \/>\naren&#8217;t whole.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 I think I&#8217;ve got a cure<br \/>\nthat&#8217;ll better any problem<br \/>\nbut it involves some work<br \/>\nand I&#8217;m not sure it<br \/>\nmight not cure things<br \/>\nyou want left as are.<\/h4>\n<h4>If you could chop up this poem<br \/>\nand swallow it<br \/>\nletter by letter<br \/>\nmaybe it would spell out<br \/>\nand all-purpose cure<br \/>\nand surprise you with<br \/>\nthe good it can do<\/h4>\n<h4>In this poem<br \/>\nis every letter you&#8217;d need<br \/>\nto help you<br \/>\nand if it could survive<br \/>\nminor digestion<br \/>\nthen maybe you&#8217;ll be alright<\/h4>\n<h4>I know it&#8217;s a chance<br \/>\nbut just being alive<br \/>\nis one of those<br \/>\nand who knows<br \/>\nif it might not give you something to believe in;<br \/>\nbut that&#8217;s relying on<br \/>\nintelligence being a disease &#8211;
