line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">I&#8217;m on holidays this week and it&#8217;s the last official day of those holidays and I&#8217;m going to try and get this blahg written.\u00a0 Yes, it&#8217;s mid-September and I&#8217;m taking holidays.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve had gorgeous weather this week<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\"> and I even went to the beach one day.\u00a0 The photo to the right of me was a selfie taken September 12th at Sandbanks Provincial Park in lovely Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada.\u00a0 Go ahead, be jealous.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Now, before we move on, I want to show you another shot of the beach at Sandbanks from my visit the other day.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/falseducks.com\/theblahg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_20170912_140422836.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-981\" src=\"http:\/\/falseducks.com\/theblahg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_20170912_140422836-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Sandbank Provincial Park 09\/12\/17\" width=\"321\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"http:\/\/falseducks.com\/theblahg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_20170912_140422836-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/falseducks.com\/theblahg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_20170912_140422836-768x432.jpg 768w, http:\/\/falseducks.com\/theblahg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/IMG_20170912_140422836-1024x576.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 321px) 100vw, 321px\" \/><\/a>You know I&#8217;m only doing this to make you all jealous.\u00a0 The beach was great.\u00a0 The water was beautiful and there was a sea-gull who bonded with me&#8230;as long as I fed him sun chips.\u00a0 The sun chips were french onion and french seemed to be the theme of the day.\u00a0 There were other people on the beach who seemed to be french-Canadian.\u00a0 There were a group of bikini clad millennial who frolicked and\u00a0 ignored my bird friend and I.\u00a0 There was also a group of french-Canadians who came to the beach and immediately began singing for about twenty minutes.\u00a0 As my bird friend philosophized, &#8220;it takes all kinds.&#8221; <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 So, at this point you&#8217;re probably wondering about the pirates and if they had anything to do with my visit to the beach.\u00a0 No, the two are totally unconnected but the pirates do connect to something else, if you&#8217;ll only allow me to get there in my own time.\u00a0 First, let me remind you of a blahg I wrote in November of 2013 called &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/falseducks.com\/theblahg\/?p=341\">ZOEY, FRANK, JUNE &amp; ALL THAT JAZZ<\/a>&#8220;.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/falseducks.com\/theblahg\/images\/bridgecityjbfront.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/falseducks.com\/theblahg\/images\/bridgecityjbfront.jpg\" alt=\"The Bridge City Dixieland Jazz Band LP\" width=\"300\" height=\"302\" \/><\/a>The blahg was mostly about my cats but there was some information on a new LP that I had found by the Bridge City Dixieland Jazz Band.\u00a0 It was the only album that they put out and I mentioned that they were formed in 1967 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan here in Canada.\u00a0 In fact, they were formed for Canada\u2019s Centennial in 1967.\u00a0 That&#8217;s the birthday I want to talk about later.\u00a0 I know, Canada celebrated its 150th Birthday on July 1st of this year but everything in this blahg will link to Canada&#8217;s 100th Birthday in 1967.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Back on the 4th of July of this year, and yes I know that would have been a celebration for the USA and not Canada, I received an email with the subject line: &#8220;Bridge City Dixieland Jazz Band&#8221;.\u00a0 On opening the email, I read the following:\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<style>\nBODY {font-family=\"Arial\"}<br \/>TT {font-family=\"Courier New\"}<br \/>BLOCKQUOTE.CITE {padding-left:0.5em; margin-left:0; margin-right:0; margin-top:0; margin-bottom:0; border-left:\"solid 2\";}<br \/><\/style>\n<div>\n<div>Scott<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Thanks for your kind review of the band.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Bobs Caldwell the bandleader is my dad. by Pete Schofield and the Canadians.\u00a0 Lo and behold, I had that in my collection as well.\u00a0 It was purchased at the same thrift store in Belleville where I purchased the albums by Pat Riccio and the Bridge City Dixieland Jazz Band.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 15pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Arial Rounded MT Bold','sans-serif';\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The album by Pete Schofield and the Canadians is a celebration of Canada that came out in 1967 and even has Canadian themed tracks such as &#8220;Canadian Sunset&#8221;, &#8220;Canada (A Centennial Song)&#8221; and &#8220;Canadiana&#8221;.\u00a0 Bonus marks go this band for their picture being taken in front of the new City Hall in Toronto that opened in 1965.\u00a0 I won&#8217;t go on about this band but I&#8217;m going to post a couple of songs in honor of Canada&#8217;s Birthday both in 1967 and 2017.\u00a0 What a great country that produced great musical talent like those I&#8217;ve mentioned in this blahg.\u00a0 Enjoy &#8220;Canada (A Centennial Song)&#8221;
